Fundamentals of Product Creation 5 – Iteration & Improvement

Format
workshop
Length
~1.5–2 hrs as a module

Part of the Product Development Fundamentals workshop series (19 independent workshops across 6 modules; 5–20 participants). Each sub-item below is deliverable standalone or as this full module.

5a. Measurements (30–45 min)

Iteration without measurement is guesswork. Covers how to set up measurement for a product, how to translate a business goal into a specific product goal, and a SMART goal deep-dive.

5b. Improvements (30–45 min · hands-on)

Iteration isn’t just small tweaks — it can be fundamental rewrites. Covers the difference between iterating on an existing product and pursuing a blue-sky opportunity, anchored in the Netflix/Blockbuster and Motorola ROKR/iPhone camera examples. Includes an “Improve a Product” group exercise (5–15 min).

5c. Learning to Repeat Processes (35–45 min)

The best product teams don’t just ship — they build systems for shipping. Covers post-launch assessment (team + lead + metrics), the post-mortem, A/B experiments, marketing campaign loops, and how to turn analysis into a recommendation for what to do next.
