The value of practicing creative work daily, especially if you even slightly ritualize it, is when moments come where you want to distract yourself.
Like, you’re writing something, and you get stuck, instead of flipping on a TV or staring blankly, you write something else. Your ‘muscles’ are good enough that you just switch back and forth. You literally distract yourself by writing something else, because you can. When you have those moments where it’s hard to come by, you push your way through it, and just produce a little less, but produce nonetheless. And when you have a burst, you just ride that wave, and let it all pour of you. You can create when it’s hard. You can let it flow when it’s easy.
That’s why you do it every day.
