I’m teaching my first Magnet class, and it’s about character artistry called ‘Funny Voices and Feelings.’ It’s about using a fun voice to find a character, whether through a bad impression, or simply changing up how you talk in simple ways with voice, pitch, and more, and letting that inhabit in your improv. Change the pitch of your voice, add a leading emotion, and you can tap into a new character to inhabit.
There’s a way better description on Magnet’s website.
“In this four week workshop, students learn some basic techniques for creating a funny character voice, then how to layer emotions and relationships into the voice in order to find a character. Using techniques from improv, public speaking and acting, students should leave with at least 2 new characters they can play, along with a short character monologue in the form of a public speech. More importantly, they should leave with a grounding that can help them find as many others as they possibly can.”
The class is already full, and I’m looking forward to it!
